Increase Page Speed of WordPress to 90: Well let me tell you one thing first of all that there is no 100 Page Speed of WordPress running Website. Although Page Speed is one of the most important factors of SEO and from January 2018 Google Page Speed Update. It has become a ranking factor also.

According to Google 80% of your traffic diverts to other websites if your website takes more than 4 Second to Load.

Faster reload is equal to more traffic. Even now google is penalizing the websites having bad page speed.

How to Increase Page Speed of Website?

First you need a Page Speed analyzer tool to track exact errors of your page which are preventing page to load fast.

I will recommend you Google Page Speed Analyzer or GTMetrix.

These two tools are mostly used by experts to see what their site is lacking in.

Go to any one of these platforms and put your page link to the query box.

Note: You have to analyze both for homepage and your post separately. As they both handle different requests.

Now when you have analyzed your website you will get one or all from the following Errors listed bellow.

  • Optimize Images
  • Leverage Browsing Cache
  • Enable gZip Compression
  • Minify JavaScript and CSS
  • Inline CSS
  • Enable Keep Alive
  • Minimize Redirects
  • Minify HTML
  • Avoid Landing Page Redirects

Optimize Images:

Optimizing Images is one of most important factor in Increasing Page Speed.

As media is one of most heavy things on server on behalf of your website.

Optimizing Pictures means you have to decrease file size of Picture of Media. 

Because every time a visitor visits your website, Domain loads every thing from server and heavy pictures may cause slow loading which will be negative effect on your Page Speed.

Leverage Browsing Cache:

Have you noticed that sometimes when you visit a website you use to visit. It loads the page quicker than before? 

Plus it some times load the old page you visited last time. 

It is basically your browser cache which cause so, as website saves itself and its different parts in your browser cache.

Enable Gzip Compression:

This error comes when you don’t have enabled Gzip Compression in your website.

Gzip compression is basically compression of HTML code of your website.

There is always a text to HTML ratio in which if your HTML is far larger than text. It will cause more time to load that page.

Minify Javascript / Minify CSS:

Obviously as same if HTML is larger than Text it causes slow loading of page.

Same if there are long codes of Javascript and CSS are there, they will never let your website to load faster. 

Minifying Javascript and CSS is also one of important factors of Page Speed.

Inline CSS:

After minifying CSS you have to design it in a way that all the same looking designs must be grouped up. 

Same if you are not a developer or not in mood of doing it manually also if you are using WordPress you can Inline CSS using Plugins.

Enable Keep Alive

This is server side error. Happens when your server is too much far to be reached or server is having deffer in rendering Requests.

This can only be cleared by contacting Hosting Providers.

Minimize Redirects

Redirects can cause in decreasing page speed because redirects (meta) codes are always heavy to read for any browser. Try to minimize redirects as much as you can to avoid this error in your page speed insight. 

Minify HTML

HTML to text ratio is always effective on page speed and indexing of page.

It causes problems even in indexation when bot comes to your website to render.

If you are having this error it is highly recommended to get rid of this error other wise your website will not be properly indexed also will cause lags in loading pages.

Avoid Landing Pages Redirects:

This error arrives when landing page is having redirects on it or any part of landing page is redirecting to another source. Keep your landing page clean and avoid redirects un-till and unless you get your desired position on google page. After that it is ok to redirect your part of website for better UX.

Lets first talk about what is Leveraging Browsing Cache?

This will be a helping hand for that website to load fast in your browser due to Cache stored in it.

The site shows itself fast directly from his Browser Caches, rather than loading everything from server again.

We will Leverage Browsing Cache using .htaccess file.

Go to your .htaccess file from your cpanel.

  1. Open your cPanel by going to “http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel” 
  2. Login using ID Password provided to you by hosting provider.
  3. Open “File Manager”.
  4. Go to public_html
  5.  There will be a file named .htaccess available for you. 
  6. If you cant see file there Go to settings on top right corner of your cpanel and click on “show hidden files”.
  7. Click on .htaccess file and click edit.

Or if you don’t have access to cPanel or .htaccess you can clear this issue using W3 Total Cache plugin and also WP Fastest Cache Plugin.

WP Fastest Cache (Recommended):

As mentioned in WP Fastest Cache Plugin Description:

This plugin creates static html files from your dynamic WordPress blog.
When a page is rendered, php and mysql are used. Therefore, system needs RAM and CPU.
If many visitors come to a site, system uses lots of RAM and CPU so page is rendered so slowly.

You can easily generate browsing cache of your website by following these steps:

  1. Install plugin by going to Add New in Plugin
  2. Search WP Fastest Cache
  3. Install and Activate Plugin
  4. Go to plugin setting and setup each and everything as mentioned bellow in screenshot.

Enable Gzip Compression:

There are 3  ways to Enable Gzip Compression:

  1. Gzip Compression Using .htaccess file
  2. By Cpanel
  3. By WP Fastest Cache

Gzip Compression Using .htaccess file:

Enabling Gzip using .htaccess file is as easy as copying code from one side to other file. You just have to follow below given steps to enable Gzip Compression using .htaccess file.

To increase page speed copy the following code in your .htaccess file to enable Gzip Compression:

Don’t forget to save your file after updating your .htaccess. It will take some time to get your website updated.

Gzip Compression by cPanel

Go to your Cpanel and search for “Optimize Website”.

Update Settings and you are all done.

Submit your edit to save your progress. 

Note: All of these procedures will automatically add code to your .htaccess file.

Minify JavaScript and CSS:

As HTML to Contect Ratio is one of most important factor of rendering and Page Speed. Same if you have more javascript or have Javascript in header section will cause your website to load slower as Above the fold content should be the lightest part of website.

To increase page speed Please follow the below picture settings to Minify Javascript and CSS using WP Fastest Cache Plugin.

Submit your settings to get updated.

Inline CSS

Getting your CSS inline is also going to be fulfilled using WP Fastest Cache Plugin.

Enable Keep Alive

This is server side error, If you server is not keeping your website alive all time then this error occures.

To Increase page speed Please do contact your hosting provider for settling up this error.

Minimize Redirects

If your website pages are redirecting to other sources then it may be bad thing for a new website to get indexed properly and also cause slower page loading. 

As (meta) codes of redirecting are harder to load for all browsers.

To increase page speed Please remove all the redirection from your page to get this error cleared.

Text to HTML Ratio is one of the most important parts of indexation and page speed of a website.

Avoid Landing Page Redirects

If your landing page is redirecting or parts of your landing page are redirecting to other sources then this may definitely cause a new website to load slower and also indexation problems.

Redirection is not a bad thing even it is good in some scenarios according to SEO. But for new website it is not more than a drug.

To Increase Page speed Please remove your all redirects unless you get your desired position on Google and other search Engines. Then you may redirect your pages.
